♥The Hooker and the Hermit♥

Synopsis:

New York’s Finest

Blogging as *The Socialmedialite*
April 22
LADIES AND GENTS! I have an announcement!

You know that guy I featured on my blog a few months ago? The really, really hot Irish rugby player who plays the position of ‘hooker’ in the RLI (Rugby League International)? The one with the anger management issues, the body of a gladiator and the face of a movie star? The one with the questionable fashion choices leading me to ask whether he was the lovechild of a leprechaun and a hobbit? Ronan Fitzpatrick? Yeah, that guy. Well, I have a confession to make…

THE HERMIT
Annie Catrel, social media expert extraordinaire at Davidson & Croft Media and clandestine celebrity blogger, can make anyone shine in the court of public opinion. She is the Socialmedialite, anonymous creator of New York’s Finest and the internet’s darling. Virtual reality is Annie’s forte, but actual reality? Not so much.

THE HOOKER
Ronan Fitzpatrick, aka the best hooker the world of rugby has seen in decades, despises the media—social or otherwise. The press has spun a web of lies depicting him as rugby’s wild and reckless bad boy. Suspended from his team, Ronan has come to Manhattan to escape the drama, lay low, fly under the radar. Only, Ronan isn’t easy to overlook, and he can’t escape the notice of the Socialmedialite…

THE PLAN
When Ronan is sent to Davidson & Croft Media to reshape his public image, he never expects to cross paths with shy but beautiful Annie, nor does he expect his fierce attraction to her. He couldn’t be happier when her boss suggests pairing them together.
What lengths will Annie take to keep her virtual identity concealed? And what happens when the hooker discovers who the hermit really is?
The Hooker and the Hermit is a collaboration between authors L.H. Cosway and Penny Reid, is a full length 110k word novel, and is a standalone.

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I read 10 more pages just to see if I could keep on going...Nope.

Batter up!!

1st strike: #socialmedialite. Appearently that was meant to be good clean fun but, personally, I found it offensive. As did Ronan. The fact that she used the sad excuse of mostly showcasing only males was supposed to make it better. It didn't. Herself proclaiming "public service" was just laughable. It's all great and dandy when it's not you being made fun of. And to top it off, she wasn't even brave enough to show her face or make herself known.  Real easy to point and laugh when you won't personally get the backlash of your actions.

2nd strike: info dumping. Yes, you read right. It's a common occurrence in fantasy novels but this is the first time ever I've seen this in a contemporary romance. I basically knew their whole life in the span of 5 pages. It made for a boring couple of chapters. I don't know about you guys, but in my case, I like to learn about them as the story moves along and not right off the bat.

Foul ball:Ronan and his frickin creepiness. The guy sexually assaulted her the first time they met. He shoves his hand inside her shirt "to help her clean it" after she spills something on it. The guy does not seen to comprehend the term boundaries. Sadly something I've seen in L.H. Cosway's male characters.

3rd strike: Annie and her frickin inner ramblings. Pages of it. Such a cliche of a character. She's claustrophobic, paranoid and beautiful. She's awkward in every sense of the word to the point of ridiculous. And at times trying to hard to come across as the socially inhibited characters. I mean this girl tripped, failed to know how to give a hug, snort-laughed like a pig, spit tea onto the MC's shirt, then dropped the remaining tea on him by accident, and then proceeded to dry him by dabbing napkins on his groin area all on the span of like 5 pages. Sorry but that's a little too much on trying to be "different". She really needed a redeeming quality other than quirkiness.

And you're out!

PS: Yes, I used baseball terms cause I was not going to read rugby rules for this.

♥Until next time♥
